Course Information

This course covers topics such as word processing, web design, spreadsheets, databases, desktop publishing and using the internet. Depending on the level taken, learners can choose from IT Single Subjects or Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQs) assessed by assignments, practical tasks, exams or online tests. Level 1 is suitable for those with basic IT skills, Level 2 for IT users wanting to widen their knowledge, and Level 3 for those with plenty of IT skills looking to learn how to perform more complex tasks.

Diploma in IT Systems Support


The Level 2 IVQ Diploma in IT Systems Support is designed to give learners the skills and knowledge to use IT systems in a variety of ways. The core unit of the course is IT Principles or Word Processing Techniques, and two optional units chosen from a range of ICT Single Subjects.

The course includes the following units:

IT Principles or Word Processing Techniques

Using Word Processing Software to Adapt and Merge Documents

Designing and Creating Spreadsheets

Designing and Creating Databases

Designing and Creating Presentations

Designing and Creating Multi-Page Documents Using Desktop Publishing Software

On successful completion of the course, learners will have the knowledge and skills to use IT systems effectively, efficiently and safely.

Advanced Diploma in IT Systems Support

This IVQ Advanced Diploma for IT Users provides learners with an excellent opportunity to develop their IT skills and broaden their knowledge. The course consists of three units, one core unit and two optional units.

The core unit must be either IT Principles or Word Processing Techniques.

The optional units include: Using word processing software to adapt and merge documents, Designing and creating spreadsheets, Designing and creating databases, Using the Internet for finding, selecting and sending information, Designing and creating presentations, Designing and creating multi-page documents using desktop publishing software or choosing from a number of ICT Single Subjects.

Learners will be assessed on their knowledge and understanding of the topics covered in the course. Upon successful completion of the course, learners will be awarded the Advanced Diploma in IT Systems Support.
